Ngôn ngữ Anh : Translate ?

• translate • (v.)
to turn from one language into another or from a foreign language into one's own, to explain in terms that can be more easily understood

This definition makes me wonder why some people call themselves a translator while they don't even understand what they have "translated". If one's work does not serve the purpose of conveying the original messages, what is the point of throwing in random words and phrases? I have learned that over or under-translation are not acceptable in any fields, let alone mistranslation, but have they? Idolizing someone is neither a competition nor a responsibility. Love should not be expressed in terms of speed or number of likes. I wouldn't call myself an excellent translator but when people ask me why do I keep doing this stuff, I say that I want to deliver my idols' stories and messages in the most precise manner as possible, whether no one asks me to or not.

I still have a lot to learn and too much to do, and even if I won't be able to continue doing this, I would never forget the ones who recognize and appreciate my efforts.
